Chat with Ruslaan Mumtaz
Ruslaan Mumtaz, a self admitted flop film actor, is trying his hands in television next .“None of my films including MP3 - Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai etc haven’t worked,” he admits.
The actor is now doing Trilogy Krikos’ telefilm for Star Plus. “This film, made under the series of Tere Meri Love Stories, has been tentatively scheduled for a September airing. It also supposedly stars Aditi Sharma,” he reveals.
Talking about the telefilm, Ruslaan avers, “It is set in a banking housing colony that has a mix of Gujarati and Maharashtrian community members who live in constant competition and rivalry. My character and that of my co-star’s character fall in love. How we try to make our respective parents accept each other forms the crux of this light hearted love story.”
Will this project mean a proper shift to TV ? “No this project is only a one-off. I had time to do it and so did it. Anyway, I prefer cinema because the entire process of going through your script and working on your character, to the final promotion is very enjoyable. You lose all of that in TV, which is more of daily routine.”
Ruslaan, son of veteran film and TV actress Anjana Mumtaz adds, “Despite my films not doing well, I continue to get offers. After Dangerous Ishhq, that again unfortunately tanked, I have two more releases coming up. While one is I Don’t Love You (based on the MMS scandal), the other is Mastang Mama. I am on course to sign a couple of more films.”
We wish you all the best for your telefilm and future film projects, Ruslaan!!
